Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: 1 January 2025
Applies to: www.mymedical.ie
info@mymedical.ie

Our commitment

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only navigation, or who need captions, high contrast or reduced motion.

Accessibility matters particularly to a healthcare organisation. People looking for health information are disproportionately likely to be unwell, in pain, distracted or using an unfamiliar device.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA.

[TO CONFIRM — whether this site has been formally audited against WCAG 2.2 AA, and by whom. Until it has, this section should say “we aim to meet” rather than “this site conforms to”. Do not claim conformance that has not been tested.]

What we have done

  • Text and background colours are chosen to meet AA contrast ratios, and the palette is defined so that accent colours are only used on backgrounds where they pass.
  • The site works on a keyboard alone, and focused elements are given a clearly visible outline.
  • Headings, lists, landmarks and tables use proper HTML structure rather than visual styling alone.
  • Images carry text alternatives, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • The layout adapts to the screen, and text can be enlarged without content being cut off.
  • Animation respects the operating system's “reduce motion” setting, and the figures shown in our statistics are rendered in full even if the animation does not run.
  • Fonts are served from our own domain rather than a third-party network, which keeps pages loading quickly on slow connections.

Known limitations

[TO COMPLETE — list anything known not to meet the standard, with a plain description of the problem and, where possible, when it will be fixed. An accessibility statement with an empty limitations section is rarely credible; test with a screen reader and keyboard first, then record what you find.]

If you cannot access something on this site, or you find it difficult to use, please tell us. Describe the page and what happened, and we will try to put it right.
